H.Fong 1233
sir,
CROWN AGENTS TO WAR OFFICE
274
9333
Rras ! APR 12
4, Whitehall Gardens, S.W.
7th February 1912
Referring to your letter of the 15th
December 1911 No.57/20/4337 (.G.0.3.) respecting the
price charged for some ammunition under reference G/
H.Kong 1233, I have the honour to state that the
Government of Hong Kong, to whom a copy of your
letter was forwarded, has written enquiring whether
it is usual for a purchaser of ammunition from the
Ordnance Factories to be charged with extra cost
entailed by defects in manufacture for which the
purchasers are in no way responsible.
2. The extra cost involved would not of course
have been borne by the Government of Hong Kong, had the
contract been made with the trade, and, as the attitude
of the Colonial Government appears to be reasonable we
shall be glad if the charge can be reconsidered.

3. A somewhat similar question has ariser in
connection with the price charged for some "boxes, s11 "stores Q.F. 2.95"" under reference G/N. Nigeria 2039 -
vide our letter of the 28th January,
I have etc.,
(Sgd.) P. EZECHIET.
